When one asks about the Fate of the Kalabari people in the society today, i am left in a juncture of confusion.
The kalabari people in time past were been regarded as people of high prestige, people of economic prowess, intelligence, resourcefulness .vigor and academic excellence. the kalabari people are fearless and as that cant be undermine. our ancestors were great leaders they fought and stood for the survival and emancipation of the kalabari people.
In time past ,the kalabari people lived in harmony. oneness and love. they where been tied to the letter and moving spirit of the kalabari land. The kalabari people are believed to be commonly bound together and do not accept subjection from any other people who do not share same value with them. The culture of the kalabari people is super rich not to talk about their marriage that add spices to their flavor. Their women in time past were been noted for been respectful,contented,loving and not to forget'' beautiful'' (even till date), their men in time past are very resourceful, hard working and not dependent.
The question however is, the place of the kalabari man in our contemporary society? this is a question i believe any proud son of kalabari can not give an accurate answer to, looking at things.
Today things have metamorphosed , the people of peace,love and joy have turned to be the people of hostility, disunity and cruelty.
our youth are now instrument of all manner of social vices , the land of no blood have now become a blood bank. Our land is been ruin by insane people for insane objectives.
political gladiators uses our youth to get their selfish end. Our girls are now merchant of the street.
The people known for their productiveness are now seen as been lazy, the people been known for academic excellence are now been regarded as educated illiterates.
The people at the economic class always sort for a way to further enrich them self leaving the people in pervasive poverty.
The politicians now use the youth as tool of destruction to achieve their political ambition.
the Youth do not want to utilize their man power to make a living anymore but rather involve their self with some illegal business.
This is not the relic of the founding fathers . The legacy left by the founding fathers have been rubbished.
what we do is to take pride in the past...................saying we were once this and once that; my question is what about now, what are we?.........
It is time we change our mentality and start thinking right, Its time for us to take our rightful place, its time for us to say No to things that needs to be said know to.
My people we are not fools, they have used us enough!!!!
The days to kill for one stupid person who calls himself a politician with is worthless promise or manifesto is over.....................
Our youths are creative and as that if a Stupid man who calls himself a politician wants to add value to our lives he should explore our creativity and not give us a weapon to carry.
take a cursory look at this; with all the powerful and afluential people we have , there is no one true investment / development to show for it e.g no one university,polytechnic or college of education in the whole of kalabari, no standard electricity , no standard hospital , no good roads . what they do is is to divide and rule us because they know we are very lazy and money intoxicated.
be wise my people and take your rightful place.
