Three persons feared and killed on tuesday(NDU Strike)

Three persons were on Tuesday feared killed following a clash between security operatives and kinsmen of late former Governor Diepreye Alamiyeiseigha in Amassoma, Southern Ijaw, Bayelsa State.
The clash, which reportedly started in the morning at the gate of the state-owned Niger Delta University (NDU), was said to have left many people injured.
It was gathered that the university community was thrown into tension as sporadic gunshots and fired teargas canisters caused panic among the residents.
The problem was said to have started when a detachment of armed security operatives, who arrived the community early in the morning, forcefully opened the gate of the troubled school.
The school was shut down by aggrieved community women, whose names were removed from NDU’s payroll after they were indicted by the ongoing public sector reforms of Governor Seriake Dickson.
The women, who insisted that their names must be returned to the payroll against civil service rules, were said to have hired the services of a welder to permanently seal the university’s gate.
To find an amicable resolution to the issues, the government recently dispatched a team of negotiators led by the Chief of Staff, Talford Ongolo and the Commissioner for Education to meet with the protesters and the host community.
It was gathered that among the resolutions of the parley were agreements that the university should review the fate of the sacked workers and suspend the protest to allow academic activities resume in the university.
Despite the agreements, the host community continued with its protest refusing to unseal the gate of NDU.
The protesters including women and youths were said to be angry when they woke up in the morning to discover that the school’s gate was forcefully opened and surrounded by scores of heavily armed security operatives.
They were said to have regrouped in their numbers and marched towards the gate to confront the security men.
A source from the community who spoke in confidence said: “The security operatives including the police, soldiers and men of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) were overwhelmed by the crowd rushing towards them.
“They first retreated into the premises of the university and called for reinforcement. Later they started throwing teargas canisters at them and shooting at the protesters. Many were injured and about three persons were shot. They were feared dead but were immediately rushed to the hospital”.
A lecturer from the university who also spoke in confidence said Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs) were deployed to reinforce security at the troubled community.
“Some persons have been shot by security operatives following protest by women and some youths on the forceful reopening of the NDU school gate”, he said.
A student doctor at the Niger Delta University Teaching Hospital (NDUTH) said one of the shot victims was brought to the Accident and Emergency ward of the hospital.
Some leaders from Southern Ijaw condemned the use of force to address the issues in the school and its host community.
A former Acting Governor of the state, Chief Nestor Binabo, asked security operatives to apply caution insisting that the problem could only be resolved by sustained dialogue between the community and the government.
Binabo urged security operatives to immediately leave Amassoma community to avoid further bloodshed in the area.
He said: “This whole issue shouldn’t have been allow to escalate to this level. Security operatives including soldiers have no business in this matter.
“It should have been resolved by appeal to conscience and dialogue between the school management and the host community.
“It is condemnable that it has resulted in loss of lives and injuries to my kinsmen. Efforts should be made to withdraw the security operatives to avoid further bloodshed”.
The state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Don Awunah, was said to have led a team of senior police officers to the scene of the crisis.

Professor Ozo-Mekuri-Ndimele, (Mr) Project "Ignatius Ajuru University Of Education "

Professor Ozo-Mekuri Ndimele, who is fondly called by the students of "Ignatius Ajuru University Of Education" as Mrs "PROJECT IAUOE".
The  title: "Mr PROJECT was not been giving to him as a mere coincidence or as an eulogy, but as a result of his enormous achievement as the vice Chancellor of the afore mentioned University within the short period of his appointment.
however, it is pertinent to note that N1.7 billion Naira  was been left over by the former vice chancellor Prof.(Mrs.) Rosemund Dienye Green- Osahogulu to her successor Prof. Joseph Kinane.
Prof. Joseph kinane within his period of administration, was not able to  utilize the available resources efficiently. there was no much classroom for students to learn, no good resource center,  no good communication channel between students and Vc, the ICT(information communication) was bad, no standard power supply, no free communication channels between students and VC, no good hostels  but yet, it was recorded that the money was been used for the day-to-day running of the school.
well, i doubt if the money was been used to run the school or private enterprise.
However, prof. Ozo-Mekuri- Ndimele, when he assumed office in November, metr only but N4million, as against 1.7billion that the immediate past vice  chancellor, Prof Rosemond Green-Osahogulu claimed she handed over to prof. Kinane, who succeeded her in Acting Capacity.
notwithstanding, Prof Ozo-Mekuri-Ndimele made efficient use with what was left over to him by his predecessor and from the internal generated revenue. the efficacy of his administration can be seen in the enormous infrastructural project going on in the school environ.
within 4 months of his administration he as been able to develop the "Post Secondary School" into a full University standard.
indeed he is the light the students have been longing for!. he as made the school system enjoyable for both students, lectures,HODs and all school officials. what striking about him is his receptiveness to the yearnings of students. not to forget, in his administration the school  witness the first ever commercial "Fish Pond" wish is aimed at fetching fund for the school.
indeed Prof, Ozo-Mekuri-Ndimele is the light of "Ignatius Ajuru University Of Education"
All Hail Prof, Ozo-Mekuri Ndimele!
All Hail Mr Project IAUOE!!
All Hail Ignatius Ajuru University Of Education.

WE BELIEVE IN THE GENERATION NEXT!!!

We believe that power belongs to God and not man, we believe that nobody dashes anybody any power except it is taken, we believe that power cannot be taken without the consent of the people , we believe that the people will not give their consent  if there are no good reasons  to do so, we believe that one of the key reasons why the people will vouch their  support is when they find  someone  who is selfless, dynamic, extremely intelligent, young, fearless and willing even to  take bullets for the sake of the people.
We also believe that and know that the youths constitute over 70% of (active voters) in Obio Akpor LGA.
We believe that its time for the fulfilment of the prophesy “THAT THE YOUTHS ARE THE FUTURE OF THE NATION” YES ITS TIME!
Dear Nigerian  youths the revolution has already started and  its beginning in a Local government area called Obio Akpor in Rivers State, come next local government  elections.
When we were young we were told that Nigeria had head of states at age 27, 32,29,37 and all of them never had the kind of exposure we have today but history records that they performed extremely well notwithstanding their age or education.
Unfortunately, that cannot be said  of the very educated, highly exposed and intelligent youths we have all over this country. Instead, the youths have been reduced to weapons of war, hatred, disunity and chaos in the hands of old and outdated leaders of today. Youth unemployment has been enshrined in our constitution.
We are boldly saying “enough is enough” it is time to take our future in our hands, we may not have all the money and connections but we have the numbers then lets all arise and fight for what belongs to us.
As we begin this revolution let the old, clueless, outdated ones in the  state legislative houses and the presidency get ready to retire and go home.
This may sound impossible but with you(Every Youth) it is more than possible and we will prove it with the forth coming Local Government election
GenerationNext………
